Buy Listed Stocks with IRA

How to buy listed stocks with an IRA LLC

If you have an IRA-LLC and would like to invest in a listed security you have two equally good options.

  1. Contact the Broker/Dealer of your choice and open a trading account in the name of the IRA-LLC. Keep in mind that it is the LLC that is opening the account and the new brokerage account will not be an IRA account. Any earnings will belong to the LLC and will be treated for tax porpoises as are any other asset in the LLC.

  1. Write a check from of IRA-LLC back to your IRA account. Contact the Broker/Dealer of your choice and ask it to send to your IRA account a “Transfer Authorization”. This will create a second IRA at the Broker/Dealer.
